Business Development Manager – Driver Training and Telematics Services

£32,000 – £38,000 per annum + bonus

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hpw

Due to our continued success as one of the country’s leading suppliers of heavy commercial vehicles we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager – Optimise Services. You'll be working from home or a local office covering your territory covering the Central belt Scotland, Northern Ireland and North England. Optimise Services deliver telematics and training services to corporate and private customers.  As a Business Development Manager you will support our team and product portfolio.

This fast-paced role involves managing relationships with existing Optimise Services customers, selling Optimise services to new/conquest customers, supporting regional sales persons and coaching customers to ensure they get the best results, for their business, from our products and services.  You will follow up departmental sale leads, including your own, demonstrating the all benefits to our customers. Understanding our competitors services is crucial.

Scania Driver training is based across the UK in 10 locations, operating a fleet of over 20 modern LGV trucks both artic and rigid.  We delivery around 10,000 training days per annum, including licence acquisition, Driver CPC, apprenticeships, remote driver coaching, product training and fuel efficiency programmes. Scania OnBoard telematics have over 38,000 connected vehicles in the UK and sell driver and vehicle performance packages including tracking and remote tachograph download and analysis.  Our sales and administration team is based at our head office in Milton Keynes.

  • Maintaining regular and professional contact with customers and prospects.
  • Follow up sales leads
  • Support customers with their driver development and driver apprentice programmes
  • Actively utilise and maintain customer data within the Scania CRM system.
  • Ensuring professional and consistent handling of contract documentation.
  • Develop internal customer relations to optimise After Sales and Support Programmes product penetration such as New Sales, Used Equipment Sales etc.
  • Continually monitor competitor and industry activity in order for Scania to be at the leading edge.
  • Ensure a quality customer focus is maintained to support the Scania brand values.
  • Describe the product benefits and any special offers and demonstrate the products, where applicable
  • Deliver onsite coaching/training on the use of products and services
  • Ensure all booking/sales paperwork has been completed and entered on to the system
  • Achieve revenue generation targets using the consultative sales process
  • Use the consultative/coaching sell (AIDA) to sell company products and services over the telephone and face to face, adhering to company process and guidelines
  • General administration duties to support the job role
  • On occasion you will be required to work away from home at client meetings, factory visits, training and shows and exhibitions promoting and selling our products and services

Key requirements for the role:
