We have an exciting opportunity for a Method Engineer (Safety & Technical training) to join Scania. You will have proven Workshop technical expertise, experience, skills, training, and competence. This new and exciting role will be supporting the People Development teams cross-functionally in the areas of Health & Safety, Technical and Apprentice training. This is a hands-on role aiding the design, creation, and testing of new procedures and safe work methods to aid the production of industry leading training content, learning solutions and technical support workflows. Furthermore, to bring performance improvements and efficiency enhancements for our colleagues.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

• Develop safe work procedures (safe systems of work) and new repair methods for Workshop technician use, to be trained during Learning & Development courses, and for use by Support functions (Technical Support). Enabling safety, quality, and efficiency in all work performed by our Workshop colleagues.

• Interpreting U.K. legislation and regulations for Health & Safety and Vehicle Compliance to create bespoke working methods that are fit-for-purpose, robust and safe.

• Designing, creating, and testing technical training rigs, workstations, and methods (e.g., troubleshooting) for Technical Learning courses, Bootcamps, Top Team and Apprentice of the Year competitions.

• To create new methods from existing work procedures, focusing on the design, creation and evaluation of methods, techniques, and support tools to accompany Health & Safety., Learning & Development and Technical Support literature and material

• Produce learning, development, support, and technical documentation including bulletins, knowledge articles, procedures, tool sheets, videos, and 3D content (Virtual and Augmented reality) in conjunction with the Digital Learning & Content Developer.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to research, identify, and source new equipment, tooling, systems, and software. Assess, test and rate variations of tooling & equipment on the market to find best-in-class solutions and create industry leading work methods.

• Working closely with People Development, Technical Support, and workshop colleagues to interpret and understand business needs effectively, and to follow-up and review existing methods and solutions.

Candidate Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Extensive diagnostic experience, solution orientated. 

• Technically very competent with extensive Scania training and product knowledge (Truck, Bus, Engine).

• Maintain a structured, logical approach to their work along with an element of flexibility where needed.

• An excellent working knowledge of the automotive industry, technology trends and Scania products, services, and systems.

• Demonstrate a passion for a job well done (right first time, on time) with exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbally, with high customer service skills.

• Accept, welcome, and enable change to develop the role.

• The ability to work on own initiative under pressure and as a team player in a busy department and cross-functionally.

• Always demonstrate trustworthiness and integrity.

• Computer literacy with proficiency in Scania systems & Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Current valid driving licence with C (class 2) or C+E (class 1) truck entitlement would be beneficial.
