You’ll work for Scania, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy commercial vehicles in a key role for theWashington branch. You'll work pro-actively to ensure the daily operation of the service reception and the customer service needs and expectations are met, from customer enquiry through to completion of the invoice and follow- up. You'll work towards an optimised utilisation of the workshop and long profitable relations with the customers. You'll take responsibility to ensure customer reception area is always maintained to a professional standard and ensure all outstanding and completed tasks are communicated at shift handovers.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively prepare for and make customer contact to schedule, book and control customer MOT appointments.
  • Complete MOT failure/PRS report form in conjunction with repairing technician. 
  • Estimate both mechanical and body repairs to vehicles and trailers. Comply with the internal standards to diagnose and estimate faults within set time scales
  • Contribute to services sales by analysing customer needs and actively interact with them to find optimal solution.
  • Contribute to the utilisation of the workshop and its capacity by planning the work to be carried out.
  • Take care of customer needs whilst on-site to ensure satisfaction.
  • Form long term relationships with customers through clear and active communication.
  • Ensure thorough follow-up with customers after workshop.
  • Support and deputise for the General Manager when required.
  • Oversee all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices and adhered to within the department
  • Produce and explain invoice to customer at point of vehicle collection and book any outstanding defects for next scheduled event.
  • Take responsibility to ensure customer reception area is maintained to a professional standard at all times in line with Dealer Operating Standards.
  • Obtaining order numbers and authorisation for work to be undertaken and maintain a good follow up communication with clients.
  • Manage and balance VOSA monthly lane fee accounts collecting payment as necessary
  • Invoicing of WIP’s 
  • Manage collection and deliveries in conjunction with the issue of company courtesy cards

Key requirements for the role:

  • Maintain an up to date understanding of products and services necessary to perform duties and tasks. Understand Scania products and services value proposition connected to processes and business.
  • Good computer skills including MS Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to listen and communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences.
  • Customer focused by providing service excellence to internal and external clients
  • Using initiative to deal with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Able to work as a team player to achieve organisational goals.

Desirable education and experience

  • Relevant work experience in a dealership position recommended
  • Further education in relevant field an advantage
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Previous technical experience in a workshop
  • Demonstrable technical experience in diagnosing service issues
